Monday

Go to: Tallinn

Our little shopping trip to Tallinn wasn't so successful for the shopping part (but I did find a winter coat, great navajo-style scarf and a training pants). The weather was great, I saw many beautiful old and modern buildings (they really know how to mix modern and old together), we had great food (but not really Estonian food). I remembered how easily I get sea-sick and I also remembered that I do not enjoy cold hotels (although I enjoyed the Le Corbusier-feeling of the rooms), other Finns on the board and countries abroad where you here your own language. I think it's also a great sign of adulthood if you buy more food and wine from your trip to take home rather than other souveniers (Marks & Spencer, I love you). Plus: I got myself a little luxury in the form of perfume by Chloé and coconut body butter from Body Shop.

Friday

Off to Estonia

Few days much needed shopping break to Estonia. I'll be back here on Monday.

The patient gardener

This tree stucture project is a result of a workshop conducted by Visiondivision and designed by the students from the Politecnico di Milano. The cherry trees grown this way should take about 80 years to have their final form. But it will look magical!

Tuesday

Dark matter

Dark matter is a strange thing. Something scary, something interesting. Like Björk's Dark matter. (How cool would be textile print like that, dress made of it. I would want that.)

Monday

Black & white home

This gorgeous home is to die for. I love the floor, I love the black & white theme (although for myself I would add a few spot colors), I love the kitchen, the sofa, the light, the industrial feeling. One can only dream.

Sunday

Weekend findings

The most relaxing chillout weekend. After deciding that I wouldn't go to Lost in Music (no one wanted to come along and alone it wouldn't be so much fun) I let myself do all the chillout things that I like: going to flea markets (found cool things like huge bag inspired by my ekolovesanimal post, vintage leather belt, leather tassel and a top), got some take-away food so that I wouldn't have to make food myself, finding new great music (like Real Estate's Younger that yesterday) and watching good movies like Cry baby and Away we go.

Saturday

Going to TR1

There's that strange door going nowhere (or actually down about 5 metres).

Friday

Slumbers

These sacks by textile designer Aleksandra Gaca are so funny and good-looking at the same time!

Thursday

The Geometry of Pasta

I love pasta. Well, who doesn't? And now there is this coolest pasta book ever made: The Geometry of Pasta. The book is so beautiful with its black & white simple pictures and great layout. And the website is that too.

Wednesday

Plexus

Gabriel Dawe makes these amazing wool string installations and art pieces. (I seem to be blogging a lot about art made of nets or strings.) But I'm in awe again.

Monday

Brunch at Talo

Weekend at Helsinki, lots of friends, new apartments, new hairstyle and lots of good food. But I have to admit that when it comes to making me very very happy, do it with brunch (Sunday brunch at Talo was AMAZING!!!!). I'm easy.

Thanks for Bambi for the photos and the best company.

Saturday

Eko loves animal

In a few minutes I'm heading off to Helsinki to visit friends and to have an amazing new haircut at my favorite hairdresser's. And while packing all things I remembered these gorgeous upcycled leather bags by ekolovesanimal. That bag would be just perfect for my little weekend trips.

Friday

Nets in the air

Janet Echelman's net sculptures are one of the most beautiful sculptures that I have ever seen.

Thursday

Rugs

These rugs are waiting for me at Kotka. My mom made these and I cannot wait to see them.

Tuesday

Eden

If this doesn't look like a paradise then what does? I can almost here the waterfalls and birds singing. I think I have to visit Plitvice lakes in Croatia some day.

Sunday

Easy-to-move bookshelves

Few years ago I lived in a tiny flat. I needed a bookshelf to maximize the space so I ended up building it myself with painted old fruit boxes. I loved the shelf. Now I have a real wooden bookshelf which is steady and sturdy but I quite miss the build-yourself feeling. Maybe next time I'll build a shelf made of splinter baskets like Deko-magazine suggests.

Saturday

Can't get enough of the autumn colours

It's all over the place: the autumn. This is the most beautiful time until all the leaves have falled and then it's just grey, grey and black until next May. That is depressing so now I have to get all the kicks from this colour burst before the long darkness. That's why I match my nail polish to the colours.
