I love mathematics! Especially when it's visualized. Because it's actually visualized everywhere you look. Omg, I could talk about the beauty of mathematics for so long...

So I love these data visualizations by Cristian Ilies Vasile and Martin Krzywinski. These are Pi and other mathematical numbers. Gorgeous!

Ukki

Ukki means grandfather in Finnish. And today I got something from my Ukki. He died a long time ago so this gift has kind of been waiting for me. When I was born, he opened a bank account with 1000 Finnish marks. And that was 28 years ago! The deal was this: when I turn 18 years old, I would have to buy jewel for myself so that I could remember my grandfather forever.

I turned 18 and then a bit more but I just couldn't buy just any jewel. I wanted it to be special and I wanted to figure out what's my style. So that I could wear the jewel every day. Then I had to get the money out of the account and luckily my dad found the original bank receipt and a note from my Ukki (a note that I haven't ever seen before).

And today is the day! About a month ago I went to a local jewelry designer, korus DESIGN, and he made me the most beautiful pendant that reminds me of my Ukki. The bigger stone is obsidian, which is basically naturally occurring volcanic glass, and the smaller is tourmaline. Now I have my Ukki with me all the time.

Colouring

Lately I've been doing things with different colours. First I made the most delicious ginger-apple jam and let my inner kitchen goddess out. Then I received the much-needed package of hair colours from B. And then we went to a natural dyes workshop with Z. That was so much fun and so inspirational and relaxing! So much joy from the avocado shells, the creeping woodsorrels and anything else from the nature (and garbage).

Ceramics workspace

I love different workspaces and I dream of my own space where I could do... well.. anything and everything. So this workspace interior by IKEA is just wonderful! Basic wood shelves, tables and everything. I want it all!

And ceramics, I'm really getting into ceramics again after starting the course few weeks ago.

Autumn hair

I've had a hair crisis for a while now. After playing with blue on my hair for the whole summer, I'm now getting a bit bored. And my own hair colour is starting to grow again and I remembered that I'm a redhead. A blonde redhead. So going back to the redness is quite natural actually.

I had an emergency call to my dearest hair stylist and friend Bambi from Osos Polares and he kindly sent me the emergency kit with pink and copper haircolours to mix with hair lotion. And tonight my hair crisis (hopefully) will be over. For now. Thank you B for being so darling!

It's been released! The artists on this years Tampere Jazz Happening. We've been waiting this moment so long after last years Ebo Taylor gig that was definitely the best gig I've ever been. And now there are some good musicians also. Cannot decide what I want to see...

Autumn dreaming

So much have been happening! So much that I haven't even been able to blog so much about life lately. But life is good. Actually very good. Z got to school and it will be a dream come true to him. He's going to be a chef! And then I started to go to a ceramics glass and put my hands in clay again. After five years of graduating to ceramics and glass designer. We've been adventuring: epic bike trips, nights in the strange bars, geocaching, lots of things... And then we decided to move in together! I think I'm the happiest girl alive.

Ricoh GX200

Camera family is growing again! I bought myself a smaller camera: Ricoh GX200! It's used but in a good condition and ticks all my boxes. I've noticed that I'm just too lazy to carry my big boy Pentax K-5 with me all the time. But I still want to carry a camera in my bag. And I like if it's quiet. And it takes cool, a bit tinted and very high in contrast photos. And look how old-fashioned and nostalgic it looks! Perfect for me!

I just came across this Hungarian designer Nanushka (real name Sandra Sandor). Cool clothes! Especially the denim pieces.

Linen sheets

Lately I've had some strange sleeping problems. Waking up all the time and then I just cannot get to sleep anymore. Z blames the moon, I don't know what to blame. But it's a good time to think about sleeping (which I love) and bed. For a while now I've been dreaming about linen sheets! I've been hunting linen fabric (to make my own sheets) or just the perfect sheets from somewhere. Any recommendations (Mom, who is your linen dealer)? Still hunting.

Jiro dreams of sushi

Last night I watched this documentary of the best sushi chef in the world. It was so elegantly made, touching, beautiful and gave lots to think about. One of the best documentaries I've ever seen.

Restaurant day / Flea market

We spotted ourselves on this photo!!! On Sunday it was Restaurant day and there was a little tapas restaurant and flea market on Z's backyard. It was so nice. I made some good founds.
