Colouring

Lately I've been doing things with different colours. First I made the most delicious ginger-apple jam and let my inner kitchen goddess out. Then I received the much-needed package of hair colours from B. And then we went to a natural dyes workshop with Z. That was so much fun and so inspirational and relaxing! So much joy from the avocado shells, the creeping woodsorrels and anything else from the nature (and garbage).

Jiro dreams of sushi

Last night I watched this documentary of the best sushi chef in the world. It was so elegantly made, touching, beautiful and gave lots to think about. One of the best documentaries I've ever seen.

Sale founds and others

I've treated myself another gift because I found a cute little dress from the Marimekko's summer sale: Laiturilla dress. It arrived yesterday and I feel like Little My (from the Moomins) in the summertime when I'm wearing it. 

Another treat is inspired by my kitchen fanatic boyfriend who insisted that I have to stop poisoning myself with my teflon frypan. So he suggested that I should buy this traditional La Lyonnaise steel frypan which is a bit of a professional stuff. But after it arrived yesterday and of course Z wanted to test drive it (my job was to get rid of the old teflon frypan), I'm convinced that is the best frypan I've ever had! 

So quality at first is my new motto!

Food and wallpaper

This was my weekend in Jyväskylä: nights with sauna and good food and wine, decorating and renovating a beautiful house, candle light dinners, photoshooting C and just lounging. Perfect. I also got myself a little decorating bug, I want to decorate and renovate and paint and everything! Give me a wall!

Food aesthetics

I love Marina Ekroos' cookbook called Silmänruokaa (Feast for the eyes). The photographer has arranged all the ingredients into beautiful arrangements that  I could just stare forever. I want this!!!

Art loves food

Bompas & Parr, the gastronomic art duo that continued to play and experiment with food after their childhood. I just love this.

Mäntyniemi

Last weekend was all about friends and forest. We spent the weekend here, had some wine and sausages, spent hours in the sauna, saw the first snow falling down, picked some icy mushrooms and made some delicious soup, pancakes and s'mores. And the mornings felt like Christmas mornings with slow and long breakfast, cartoons and dearest people next to me. Love to you all!

We're addicted to Gordon Ramsay. I know, it sounds weird but that's just the way it is. Every night we have to see one, two or three episodes of Kitchen Nightmares (tonight starting Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares UK episodes, yeah!). Yes, we have a problem. But there's just something about him...

Friendships

It's always wonderful to see your friends. To know that they will give you a place to stay over. That they will set their alarm clock to wake them up on Sunday so that they can spend more time with me. And that they can be artistic with my hair. That they organize big 30th birthday parties where we can all see each other. To know that they are really happy for me and that I can be really happy for them. That they make me drinks and food that should make my flu go away. I just love everything like that.
