Ricoh GX200

Camera family is growing again! I bought myself a smaller camera: Ricoh GX200! It's used but in a good condition and ticks all my boxes. I've noticed that I'm just too lazy to carry my big boy Pentax K-5 with me all the time. But I still want to carry a camera in my bag. And I like if it's quiet. And it takes cool, a bit tinted and very high in contrast photos. And look how old-fashioned and nostalgic it looks! Perfect for me!

I FEEL HOME

Lately I've noticed (and maybe you too) that this blog has been a bit more quiet. I think one of the reasons is that I've developed an addiction to Tumblr. Finglish

Finnish photographer Vesa Oja made a trip to the North America to follow his roots and photographed Finnish Americans in their hometowns. And the photos are amazing! It's also funny to see the Finnish elements in a bit different environment. Or Finnish surnames amongst the English words.

Native Americans

For me there is something really interesting and intriguing about the Native Americans. It's like they are very much connected to the nature and their roots. So I love these photos taken over a century ago by Edward S. Curtis. He photographed different tribes before the Western influence took over.

Darkened cities

What would cities look like if there were no lights at night? This! Photographer Thierry Cohen has made an incredible photo series of the dark cities under the night sky. Using precise coordinates and combining two different images he creates these amazing photos!

Nasa's Earth Observatory has released some photos of Earth at night. The dark side of our planet isn't that black and dark as we might think. Looks quite beautiful!

Look what I got from my dear friend M, thank you thank you! (Ok, at first I have to admit that when I got this I was just so excited that I opened the present even it's not Christmas yet.) It's the traditional calendar by photography students from Lahti Institute of Design. This year the theme is wood and the calendar looks so amazing! Get yours here.

Physicists' blackboards

This photo series by Alejandro Guijarro is just great! These images of physicist's blackboard after their lessons remind me of my physics classes in high school. It would be awesome to go there again (just) for a one day but I guess there's not so many blackboards in class rooms nowadays.

I love Marina Ekroos' cookbook called Silmänruokaa (Feast for the eyes). The photographer has arranged all the ingredients into beautiful arrangements that  I could just stare forever. I want this!!!

New home things

Z made me plywood boxes that can be piled up into shelves, so perfect for my little home! I love love love them and now we can build a studio for our little photography project. Hell yeah! (And then we made a camera obscura out of my room.)

Pentax and life

Sorry for being so quiet lately but I've been doing so much stuff that I think one of my day includes actually two days. And I finally got my new camera: Pentax K-5!!! (Yeah, not Pentax K-5 II as I planned, I just couldn't wait any longer.)
