Folk Jee

Long time, no see! I think I've been busy with everything. With life, I mean because so much has happened. But I came to tell you that I have a new blog project: Folk Jee. It's more like an online magazine, written in English AND in Finnish, where I gather things and interesting stuff from the kingdom on plants. So lots of green nature and garden things and also some traditional handcrafts in folklore kinda way. And then living slow and happy. That's what its all about.

I guess that means that this blog has come to an end. It's a bit sad but at the same time I'm so excited about my new baby, Folk Jee. I'm so happy to get into blogging again and I cannot wait to see you guys in my new blog too. So thank you /KNOW / FEEL, you were the best first love.

Secret forest

My favorite place in Tampere is this secret forest, especially this time of the year because everything is just growing wildly. I can feel the trees and plants growing.

Darkened cities

What would cities look like if there were no lights at night? This! Photographer Thierry Cohen has made an incredible photo series of the dark cities under the night sky. Using precise coordinates and combining two different images he creates these amazing photos!

Natural Easter

I just booked a course for me and my man: natural dyeing with plants. I'm so excited, I've always wanted to try that and the best thing is that when I talked about this course I saw on a local school's website, Z also got interested and now we're going together! I think we will be collecting different plants the whole summer (if we're not longboarding).

And as the Easter is here soon, maybe I could try natural dyes for the Easter eggs too. I remember my mom doing that when I was a kid. Beware hippies, here we come!

Older than the Universe

There is a bit of a paradox if something is older than our universe. But this star just might be. It gives me a lot to think about at nights. Simple figures: our universe is 13.8 billion years old. And this star: 14.5 billion years (ok, within a measurement uncertainty of +– 800 million years)! Very fascinating.

I'm addicted to Wilder Quarterly. I found this publication while surfing on the Internet and it just screamed my name. Here's how they describe themselves:

I want green. I do not want this grey snow thing anymore. I've never wanted it. No one asked me. Where's the green?

Wreaths and flowers

The thing that I really love about Christmas is the wreaths, twigs, flowers, Christmas tree and all the nature stuff. The walk in the forest to pick up all the branches that you need, then going inside to get warm again and spending hours just to make your own wreath, drinking warm mulled wine.

Secret life of plants

Sorry for the silence, I have been having an annoyingly long and infuriating flu that just won't go away. So my life has only been laying on my bed, watching movies and doing nothing. I actually haven't even been that much on the internet either and that is a sign that I'm terribly sick. But here's some amazing photos taken of the plants that surround us. Just look how stunning the microscopic world is!

Last weekend was all about friends and forest. We spent the weekend here, had some wine and sausages, spent hours in the sauna, saw the first snow falling down, picked some icy mushrooms and made some delicious soup, pancakes and s'mores. And the mornings felt like Christmas mornings with slow and long breakfast, cartoons and dearest people next to me. Love to you all!

The Dark Energy Camera

It's the world's most powerful digital camera with 570 megapixels and it sounds like a Darth Vader's gadget. The dark energy camera (from The Dark Energy Survey) takes amazing photos from other galaxies and expands our knowledge of the universe. I'm totally intrigued and the camera also looks cool!

Rainbow pigeons

I found this from my sister's blog and had to blog it myself. Just how cool are the colours of those pigeons!!(It was an art project by Julius von Bismarck and Julian Charriere. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed to hear that because I started to think about taking the next flight to Venice just to see those birds.)

A trip around the world

I know that everyone knows Google Maps. But do you know how addictive it can be? I have spent hours just cruising around our Earth, checking out some beautiful satellite images from different locations. You can see Niagara falls, Mumbai's slum area, Amazon rainforests... and it actually helps a little if you have a huge travel fever! (And one of these screenshots is from the place where I'm going to be in a couple of weeks!)
