Monday

Into: Bauhaus

I have always liked the Bauhaus design style. It's so simple and practical and still so beautiful to my eyes. At the moment the Bauhaus' graphic designs seem to get my attention. Maybe it's the colours.

Friday

Mosaic photos

It's amazing how photographer Pep Ventosa creates his mosaic-like images, taking lots of photos of the same subject and then mixing it up.

Thursday

Orion Nebula, part 2

So this is the result of my yesterday's inspiration picture. We had a recreational evening at work and we went to this painting course at Mältinranta where we painted on a plexiglass. We had to bring a picture that we thought was thrilling and beautiful to us and then we painted using that picture as inspiration. Three hours later we had 9 different paintings and the whole thing was fun!

Wednesday

Orion Nebula, part 1

This was my inspiration picture for today, Orion Nebula. Everytime I look at the photos of any nebula I'm just stunned how beautiful the universe is. It is so breathtaking.

(Tomorrow I will tell and show what came out of this inspiration pic.)

Tuesday

The Holder

This post has been long time coming. Because this little thing is an old joke in the office where I work. We spotted this in a window of a shop near my workplace and then I got it for a present few weeks later at our pre-Christmas party. The design is weird and the package design is just so old-fashioned. And the name: there's no greater than The Holder.

Monday

Clamp Lamp

Maybe it's time for me to learn to build electric things. Because this Clamp Lamp by Lindsey Adelman is so great! And the greatest thing is that this is a DIY instructed design piece. Check the instructions here and get started. I know I will.

Sunday

The Election Day

Winter Sunday. Just the same but a bit different (today is the election day for Finland's new president).

Saturday

Market hall

An ordinary Saturday morning: the perfect breakfast at the market hall in Tampere. I just love it. (Also got the chance to test my new precious camera which I love love love!)

Thursday

Barbie shoes necklace

When I was a little girl, I used to love all the accessories that my Barbie-doll had. Like her shoes. All the little high heels and sneakers. I think that's why I feel drawn to this necklace. My Barbie never had this much of shoes but this would be a great DIY thing if you can collect all those little shoes.

Wednesday

Design bakeries

Good design makes everything, even the most ordinary things like bakeries, look new. And these design bakeries look so cool that I would totally buy something just because the look of the shop.

Desert in your home

I love these images from Elle Korea. This home looks like it has it's own desert fauna inside it.

Monday

Pastel hair

This photo inspires me. I know that spring trends are all about pastels and this is a cliché post but I love the hair of these models in this picture. (Also, I had my first 100 viewers/day in my blog. Thank you so much you guys for visiting!)

Sunday

Moonrise Kingdom

Can't wait to see the latest film of Wes Anderson, Moonrise Kingdom which comes out (I think) in May.

Friday

Shift-rings

Simplicity with colour. I love. That's why I definitely would want to have these rings by Silva/Bradshaw.

Thursday

The Noun Project

If you like simple symbols and anything black and white, visit The Noun Project's site. Also if you're designing icons, this is a great place to get inspired.

Wednesday

Prism 1666

I have always been fascinated by prisms. How they disperse the light into beautiful colours. Physics is amazing! And this art installation by Super Nature Design and Wonwei is just as amazing with a modern twist.

Tuesday

Error-time

This is just a quick post just to explain my silence in here. First I was away in Helsinki to visit my friends and now when I got back my Internet isn't working properly. I hate when technology isn't working the way it should! I will be solving this problem as soon as possible and then I'll get back to normal blogging. See you soon.

Friday

Workspace

I hope that someday soon I will have a bit bigger apartment so that I can have my own workspace (a separate room, please). I dream about it quite often. How I would have this large table in the middle of the room, then smaller tables on the sides and there would be my computer and sewing machine and all my drawing and painting stuff. The room would be full of light. Then I could just do whatever I do there and after that close the door and have a break. I would love that. I had a little inspiration adventure on the Internet. Check out.

Thursday

A Day in California

I'm totally in love with this little video of a day in California. I want to be there. I want to be in the sun.

Wednesday

Pixel glasses

Dzmitry Samal created these awesome pixel glasses. I think I'm not brave enough to wear these, but the idea is fun.

Sunday

The year

Happy New Year to everyone! I went to bed about 6 am in the morning and have slept only few hours but I feel so happy and excited about what the year 2012 will bring for me that the lack of sleep doesn't even matter. I decided to gather the best parts of my last year here. To remember all the great things. It was a year full of good times, falling in love with my home town even more and more, school and then work, new friends and old friends, tough decisions (and good ones as well), good parties, lots of adventures (although not as much to abroad as I would have wanted) and everything. I think I love my life. (My new theme song for the year 2012 is this.)
